Comprehensive Exam

Regular visits with your dentist are the most effective preventive care anyone can undertake to mitigate dental disease. Your initial exam takes place at your first appointment, and in normal circumstances every six months thereafter. The initial visit is important to establish a baseline for any future treatment plans that may be necessary.  Your overall health is important to us and during your comprehensive examination we will ask about your medical and dental history, allergies, as well as any medications you may be taking currently. Additionally, you can expect us to perform the following examinations:

  • Radiographs
  • Tooth by tooth examination
  • Periodontal examination to assess gum and bone health
  • Aesthetic evaluation

Dental Cleaning

Brushing and flossing do more than protect your teeth from decay. They also prevent gum disease and bad breath. Over time plaque builds up on your teeth in the hard to reach places and along the gum line.  Regular dental cleanings remove this build up and prevents gum disease. Dental cleanings also help pinpoint trouble spots that you can take action against such areas.

Fillings

If left untreated, cavities can lead to more significant issues such as infections or even tooth loss.  When detected early enough, tooth decay can be restored with filling materials that restore function and preserve tooth structure.  In our office, we utilized tooth-colored composite resin fillings.  These restorations are undetectable to the common eye and are often used to restore worn or chipped teeth.

Root Canals

A root canal is used to treat a tooth’s soft core when it becomes damaged or diseased. This soft core is called the dental pulp and contains the nerves, blood vessels and other connective tissue that extends from the crown of the tooth to the root, down into the jaw bone.

If tooth decay or a crack in a tooth causes an abscess or infection in the dental pulp, it must be treated to prevent further infection and damage to your jaw bone. The treatment is called a root canal and is performed by a general dentist or an endodontist (a root canal specialist).

Crowns

A dental crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A drown protects and strengthens the tooth structure that cannot be resorted with fillings or other types of restorations.

There are several types of crowns. Porcelain are the most popular because they resemble your natural teeth. They are durable and will last many years. Porcelain crowns are made to match the shape, size and color of your natural teeth making your smile natural and beautiful.

There are several reasons for dental crowns including broken or fractured teeth, cosmetic enhancement, decayed teeth, fractured fillings, large fillings, root canal on a tooth.

Dentures

Dentures can be a suitable alternative for persons wishing to replace missing teeth.  Although it is always best to preserve your natural teeth, dentures are a cost effective way to restore your smile and function.  Dentures should be removed and cleaned every night.  We are pleased to provide our patients with various options that enhances how you eat, speak and smile with confidence.

Oral Sedation

Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during dental procedures. For minimal sedation, you take a pill about an hour before the procedure. The pill will make you drowsy, although you'll still be awake. Most patients remember nothing from the appointment.

Teeth Whitening

Most teeth can be whitened through a number of ways. External tooth whitening happens when vital teeth are bleached by direct contact with a safe and commonly used whitening agent, either in a dental office or at home. This means that in most situations, tooth whitening is possible and safe.

Veneers

Veneers are ultra-thin shells of ceramic (porcelain) or a composite resin material, which are bonded to the front of teeth. This procedure requires little or no anesthesia and can be the ideal choice for improving the appearance of the esthetic teeth, or the teeth you see when you smile. Veneers are placed to mask discolorations, to brighten teeth and to improve a smile.
